Hello everyone!!
My name is Jamie and this is my very first blog! I?m so excited to be part of this!
Here are a few things about myself:
I am a rising sophomore at Greenwich High School. I participate in two sports at the High School (soccer, basketball), and I?ve been working out at Carozza Fitness for about a year now.
I started at Carozza in the Summer 2011 in order to get in conditioning shape for fall soccer. The challenge that the training presented was quite an awakening, but it was totally worth all the six-thirty AM wake up calls from my mom on Sunday mornings. I could feel my body growing stronger with every box jump, TRX body row, kettlebell swing and manmaker. I look forward to learning how to flip truck tires like Ryan Lochte.
My freshman year I played Freshman Soccer and JV and Varsity Basketball. I feel passionately about sports and athletics, and especially about competing. I love the adrenaline rush, heart-pounding intensity, and even feeling sore the day after.
I believe in hard-core training if you want to be the best, and I can say from personal experience that especially at the high school level, conditioning and fitness is what separates the players who start and the players that play the bench. Some people don?t realize how competitive teenagers can get about positions and playing time, and the best way to avoid all of that nonsense is to be the best at what you do?and that?s where training and dedication comes in.
In future blogs I?ll talk about a few of my personal experiences, like the year I was a vegetarian. I?ll also give some of my opinions, like my view of girls sports at the high school level and beyond.
I?m not a particularly inspiring person who gives incredible advice, but I do think that if people want to hear about what teenagers think about sports and training, I can tell them exactly what they need.
Until next time?
You miss 100% of the shots you don?t take.
